Breast augmentation operations can be performed with silicone implants or with the person’s own fat or external filling materials. However, the most preferred method is augmentation surgery with silicone implants. Methods may also vary in operations performed with silicone implants (prostheses). One of the most asked and curious points is whether the silicone implants will be placed on or under the muscle. At this point, the determining factors are the breast structure of the patient, the shape of the preferred silicone and the surgical method to be applied. If the patient wants and prefers the enlargement of the nipple, the silicone implant is placed on the muscle with this method. If the preferred method in the surgical technique will be with an incision made under the breast, the implant can be placed both above the muscle and under the muscle. In the surgical method, there are 3 different areas where the silicone implant can be placed in the breast. The first of these can be from the nipple, the second from the armpit, which we call the axillary region, and the third from under the breast, which we call inframammarian fold. Among these methods, the most preferred method is the incision made under the muscle and under the breast. The hospitalization period of the patients is 1 day. The duration of the operation is 1 hour on average. It is recommended to use special corset bras given after surgery for 45 days. After the operation, the breast takes its full shape between 6 months and 1 year.
